Jess Thompson  Daily walks have been a part of Jess Thompson's fitness routine from Cornell College in Iowa; graduate school at Portland State University; during her days as a public school teacher and instructional coach; and as a nonprofit leader. She comes to PATH from Oregon Walks, where she served as Executive Director. At Oregon Walks, she helped pass Portland’s comprehensive Pedestrian PDX Plan, served on the steering committee for Portland’s first bus-rapid transit lanes committee, and was a member of Portland’s Vision Zero Taskforce. Her favorite projects included cohosting hundreds of walks with community partners. Jess and her husband Chris, a registered nurse, and her mother, Debby, are thrilled to have relocated to Hawaii Island where their adult son/grandson, Akeke, lives. When not not walking or spending time with her family, she enjoys gardening, reading, and swimming.  

Paul Burke Paul is a life-long cyclist and organizes our education programs. Over the past 50 years, he has enjoyed mountain biking, road biking, bike commuting, bike touring and triathlons. Paul started working with PATH as a volunteer for our Bike Safety Education program for Hawaii Island elementary schools and immediately felt rewarded for his efforts. "I was at Costco and two children from the class we taught thanked me for teaching them to ride safely. The appreciation shown by students and parents alike is overwhelming", says Paul.
